Newcastle Trip for Widows October 2023

An early start beckoned for our party of 30 on the first morning of our trip to Newcastle in England on our Easyjet flight from Belfast.  After the short flight, the coach collected us from Newcastle airport and we arrived at our hotel, left our luggage there, then took a short walk into the city centre to fuel up with a hearty breakfast. We had the day at out leisure and over the next few days clients took the opportunity to visit e.g. the Metro Centre, Whitley Bay, Newcastle Cathedral, Tynemouth, Eldon Square etc. The hotel was a really central location which was ideal. Later that afternoon we checked into our rooms at the hotel and, after a nice rest to recharge our batteries, guests were at their leisure to head out for dinner.

After an excellent breakfast on the second day, our clients ventured around the city centre, and we all met at Gino D’Campo’s Italian restaurant at lunch time at the Melia hotel at the Quayside. There then followed an amazing three course lunch and Italian cocktails. Everyone agreed the food was absolutely delicious and the staff were so friendly. They even serenaded one of our clients, Maureen, and sang happy birthday to her. The hotel was buzzing as a French football team, PSG, were staying there and the crowds and TV cameras were gathering outside. The city was crammed with football supporters that day and night! The rest of the day was free time but not too may widows wanted an evening meal after such a substantial lunch!

Our last day of our trip dawned and after another gorgeous breakfast, we checked out of the hotel and had until the mid-afternoon to do was we pleased before being collected by our coach driver and taken to Newcastle airport, arriving home that evening.

I think everyone would agree it was an amazing trip and we really enjoyed the Italian lunch at Gino D’Campo’s.. we live in hope he opens up a restaurant in Belfast!

‘Til the next time…..
